Off to The Big Apple!

This will be my last post for a few days.

If my flight takes off tomorrow...I will be in NYC from 30th until 5th.

This means little internet access so see you all when I get back!

The song in my head at the moment:

"Paper Airplanes"- M.I.A.

See you when I get back!

Heading to NYC 30th-5th.

So, I fly to NYC Tuesday (Dec. 30th) and will be there until the 5th of Jan.

I am a bit uncertain of how the trip will go. Hopefully smoothly and without any stress that I cannot handle.

I will do a little shopping while there and with the huge sales everywhere it's the perfect time of year.

So, any suggestions for places to shop in NYC that has funky, classy, not too steep priced (under $100) clothing/accessories?

Hook a gal up!

Christmas Goodies!

In celebration of getting both a Ipod Nano and Jean Paul Gaultier's Ma Dame perfume for Christmas...

"Supermassive Black Hole"- Muse

This song has become one of my ringtones on my cell as well as often listened to by me...and now I decide just how badly I want the Jeffrey Campbell heels in my last post.

OMG! They are on sale!!!!!

OMG! These are on sale for $61.00 at oakny.com !

Above: lynden combo python heel by Jeffrey Campbell

I want these shoes so bad it hurts!

I mentioned them in a past entry and gushed about them there.

How can a shoe loving girl like myself NOT love these shoes?

I know I wear size 7 1/2 in Jeffrey Campbell flats but am not sure how his heels run in sizing. So I would not know if I wore size 7 1/2 or 8.

Anyone familar with the sizing on Jeffrey Campbell heels?

Help!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Just a short post to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

So, let the most famous local-born singer sing to you this holiday!

"White Christmas- Bing Crosby

Yep, the Binger was born in the town I live in at the moment.

Long, Pretty, and Dangly.

I was wandering around my stylefeed tonight, looking at older items I have added in the past few months, and came across these two necklaces that still catch my eye.

This one:

Above: Shimmering Glass Pendant Necklace by Aris Geldis

Has a very 1920s/30s feel to it. I love the multi-colour stripes in the glass fans and how it is tri-leveled. I would so buy it but I am not into paying $304.00 (before tax) for a necklace.

Maybe if I was rich I would splurge and buy it for myself because I can think of so many outfits I could wear it with.

This one:

Above: Pico & Salsa Ball Necklace at shoprobertson.com

Is exactly like a necklace I almost bought when I was in Old Town, San Diego the last time I was in Southern California. I KNEW I should have bought it.

You can wear it long like in the above photo or double it up:

Above: Doubled up style.

And it also comes in many colours:

Above: Orange, Clear, Multicolour, Brown, Red

Above: Turquoise, Natural, Green, Yellow

As well as Black which they don't seem to have shown in the photos.

I love the Multicolour the best:

It is many shades of brown and really looks great against black clothing. I just love how the necklace is made up of beads and knotted to make the bigger "balls" on the necklace. It's so pretty.

I have actually asked for this necklace for my birthday because $20.00 is not a bad price and I really want it...and should have gotten the one I saw in Old Town.

Now Way...No Way In Hell.

This post will have nothing to do with fashion. It will deal with my shock at how some toys are so rare and popular they are outrageously priced at auction on Ebay.

My mum decided that she MUST have this for Christmas yesterday:

Above: The Tale of Despereaux Plush Mouse at F.A.O. Swartz

"Aww how cute!", you say.

"It's only $26.25?", you say.

"Oh no it's sold out everywhere!", you say after a bit of searching.

"I will try Ebay!", you say.

Then you see people are selling them for $120 plus on Ebay. $120+ for a 8 inch plush mouse! No f-ing way I am paying that much for a 8 inch stuffed mouse!

Turns out that this plushie is one of the hot, "must have", items of this Christmas and they didn't produce a lot of them so it is rare, rare, rare .

Looks like mum won't be getting what she wants this Christmas because there in no way in hell I am paying a high price for a plushie mouse that was originally $26.25!

Back- Up NYE Dress.....

I am sure you all remember my dramas in finding a NYE dress. Well...they continue.

I got this back-up dress and well...it is too boxy on me and the ruffle along the neckline makes me look flat in the chest area...even when I wear a push-up bra. The material is paper thin and my mum suggested wearing a slip under it but that would make me have even less of a shape as it bulks up the material.

Yes, colour me not happy. It's too late for me to get another dress so I am stuck with this one as the other one is going back for refund...it's just way too "Granny" on me.

So, I am not feeling the dress...which takes a TON of wind out of my sails about NYE and other things have dampened my excitement of coming to NYC.

I am just not feeling excited anymore.

Let It Shine, Let It Shine, Let It Shine!!!

I found these by chance on the Shanalogic website:

Above: Eye & Lip Safe Glitter - Transylvania by Lime Crime

Wouldn't this red glitter look great over those bright holiday lipsticks???

Above: Eye & Lip Safe Glitter - Banshee by Lime Crime

A black glitter to put over a dark red and add some serious drama!

Above: Magic Eye Dust - Fairy Wings by Lime Crime

My favorite, the pink to put over pinks, lilacs, and shine that eyelid up.

The same company has some seriously intense eye dusts and eye glitters:

Above: Magic Eye Dust - Medusa by Lime Crime

Which comes in some pretty intense colours:

Above: Eye & Lip Safe Glitter - Alchemy by Lime Crime

Above: Magic Eye Dust - Siren by Lime Crime

Above: Eye & Lip Safe Glitter - Voodoo Queen by Lime Crime

All eye glitter and dusts are applied with a brush over a sticky surface like creme eye shadow. They give your eyes that extra "Wow!" and come in many colours.

You can also get the perfect pink blush:

Above: Marie Antoinette Blush by Lime Crime

This would be a great, light, pink to add some pop to your cheeks.

And they offer a Finishing Dust for face and body:

Above: Sheer Magik Finishing Pixie Dust by Lime Crime

You dust this powder on your face as you would translucent powder and it adds a shimmer and helps cover imperfections. A great finish to a "going out" face.

I really want the Medusa Eye Dust and the Fairy Wings Eye Dust. Both would be a great addition to my make-up arsenal. :)

Merry Christmas, I Don't Want To Fight Tonight.

We all have those stressful holiday family get-togethers so, for those of you who have these situations pending in your lives, I bring you this song:

"Merry Christmas I Don't Want To Fight Tonight"- The Ramones

Enjoy!

Now That I Have Found A Dress....

Now that I have found a dress for NYE all the sites have cute dresses on them! Doesn't it always work that way?

They have cute "little black dresses" like these:

Above: Audrey Dress (Black) by Charlotte Ronson

I love how it sparkles....and the length is nice as well.

Above: Zig Zag Sequin Tube Mini Dress (Black) By Glam

Just the right amount of sequins on this dress and with a strapless bra it would be great!

Both are fun and perfect for parties on NYE.

And then there are these that are not "little black dresses" and casual but cool:

Above: Modern Vogue Dress in Eggplant by Aryn K

Which I love the folded ruffles of and also comes in cream:

Above: Modern Vogue Dress in Cream by Aryn K

For a wrap dress with loose fit:

Above: Fingerprint Wrap Around Dress in Yellow at Lulu's Fashion Lounge

I love the bright colour and the print on that yellow dress. It almost looks kimono-like.

Above: Siren's Net Wrap Around Dress in Blue/Grey at Lulu's Fashion Lounge

Which is similar in style to the yellow dress but different in colour and pattern.

And finally:

Above: Songbird Dress in Warm Ash at Lulu's Fashion Lounge.

Which has a sheen to it and could be glitzed up easily.

Of course, I only find dresses I may wear, and won't break the bank, AFTER I order the black one that didn't suit me and the one that is on the way to me as back-up.

Life always seems to work that way for me.

Back Up Dress!!!!!!

I ordered a backup dress for NYE.

Yes, I am hating the way the other looks on me so much I am one click away from returning it and getting a refund.

Back-up Dress:

Above: Kiss Me At Midnight Dress in Black at Lulu's Fashion Lounge

It is cheaper, $51.50, and less fitted but it is also a bit more "fun" and shorter. I can wear my kick-ass heeled boots with it and my sparkly tights.

Above: Back view of dress.

I will see how this one fits and if it fits well then the other dress is for sure being sent back for refund.

Yes, I am not liking the dress I have now THAT much.

I hope this dress fits right and that I don't feel 100 years old in it.

Boo Hiss @ Dress.

Got the dress....I am not loving it.

It makes me feel 100 years old. For added bonus annoyance, my mum has said it is "Way too low cut".

I am not feeling it and I am stuck with it because it is way too late in the game to go "funky" and fun...plus I shelled out the money I had to spend on a dress on it.

Low cut, too long, and blah. I will feel less than sexy and fun NYE in it.

Ugh!

Christmas Shopping Done!

I went out and Christmas shopped until I had purchased all my Christmas gifts to family members. Not an easy task when your dad and brothers have a HUGE list of what they do not want and little that they would want.

I did have a "moment in heaven" in Macy's when I wandered through the Handbag department and imagined what I would buy if I had "all the money in the world". I felt like Carrie Bradshaw from Sex in the City. Like Carrie, I have a huge love for shoes and handbags...and am always tempted to buy them when out shopping. Yesterday was no exception to this. I managed to not buy any shoes or purses which I am quite proud of.

I did, however, buy socks and a pair of winter tights at Macy's and 6 pairs of PINK underwear at Victoria's Secret (Hey, they had a free 6th pantie offer...I had to go for it). PINK is my favorite style of underwear because it is so comfortable and Victoria's Secret always has the "5 for $25" deal going on. One can never have too many pairs of underwear since they wear out rather rapidly due to constant wear.

Still I was really good and just bought gifts for family members. I was tempted to buy more for myself but managed to talk myself out of shoes, handbags, and other tempting things...including another bottle of Ma Dame perfume by Jean Paul Gaultier. I told myself I would wait and see what was gifted to me over the holidays and then buy what I still wanted afterward if I hadn't gotten it from family members.

I hope that every one's Christmas shopping is going well. Me, I am glad mine is done!

The Boots That Will Get Away.

I really LOVE these boots:

Above: Grey Suede Lace Up Fur Round Toe Wedge Boots by Amiclubwear

They would go well with my new coat but I just cannot justify buying them at this moment because of Christmas coming and my heading to NYC after Christmas. I need to spend money on gifts and NYC...not on boots.

It makes me a bit sad because they are very "me" and would go so well with my coat.

Reverse Label Snobbery.

I am always amused and annoyed by people who fall into the "reverse snob" category.

You know...the people who hate brand names and look down on people who buy brand names. The ones who are all "anti-consumerism" to the extreme and go all preachy on you when you step foot into Starbucks. The people who would rather wear holey, falling apart, clothing than "participate in aiding corporate greed" by buying new clothing that doesn't fall apart in a month.

Yeah those people.

I ran into one yesterday who was HORRIFIED I bought a "designer" dress for NYE, gave me a long preachy rant about how I was contributing to "corporate greed" so was just as bad as the evil label making people, and now is looking down on me like they claim rich people look down on "normal people".

I bought the dress because I wanted something that was nice, would last longer than one wearing, and well, I like fashion.

There is a lot of thought and creativity put into the design of an item of clothing/jewelry/shoes/purse. In a way you are wearing a work of art...even if you buy clothes from Target or some other mass retailer because that item of clothing started out as a thought in some designer's head somewhere up the fashion ladder before it was mass produced.

People who look down on fashion designers or labels are doing the same thing as people who accuse any band who gets a record deal as "selling out" or hating people who finally "make it in the movies" because now they are "full of themselves and rich for doing hardly any work".

Heck, if you really think about it they are doing the same thing as a rich person so full of themselves that they treat all people who don't have money as servants, lazy, or not relevant to the world.

I ran into one of those "labels are evil" people yesterday and they attempted to try and take away my fun at making a purchase from a minor designer of fashion.

You know...it's rather sad and pathetic that people like this exist because it is reverse snobbery.

And you know...I am far from rich but I know how to shop the sales and I am not afraid to buy labels if I want something that will last years instead of just minutes into the first wearing.

So they can kiss my Tiffany & Co. bracelet-ed (it was gifted to me), Tadashi dress for NYE wearing, Jean Paul Gaultier Ma Dame perfume wearing, ass!

Ordered The NYE Dress!!!!

I am getting this dress for NYE:

Above: black ruched v-neck dress by Tadashi

Yes, it is simple and not funky but I can glitz it up with accessories. I also have the necklace, clutch purse, and heeled boots to go with it.

Above: The back of the dress.

It is jersey knit so won't kill me in over-heating as I go from crowded room to outdoors. It has ruching which I like because it adds some pattern to the dress. It has a bit of stretch to it which is also important to me. The best part? It only cost me $152.44 because Bluefly.com was having a HUGE sale today.

I just need to get some tights/hose with a bit of sparkle to them to match the clutch purse. I also need to decide on bracelet and rings for the outfit which I have PLENTY of already.

So, I am a little sad it isn't funkier but all the really cool funky dresses were way out of my price range. This dress has class and is form fitting which I wanted in a dress anyway. It is also dressy enough to go to parties in without being over the top in shiny or sequined stuff.

So NYE dress search mission accomplished!
